Indication |
Detect the presence of DNA from spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi in patients with signs and symptoms of Lyme disease. |
Physiology |
Transmission of B. burgdorferi to humans occur primarily by infected tick bite. Symptoms appear after antibiotif treatment and may cause chronic progressive encephalomyelitis, chronic severe arthritis, cardiac manifestations. |
Normal Range |
The diagnosis of Lyme disease is difficult by serological tests but detected by DNA based tests. This tests is a valuable diagnostic tool for detection of Lyme disease. |
