We, members
of the Organizing Committee of the 57th Annual National Conference of Indian
Psychiatric Society extend a cordial invitation to you and your family to
attend the 57th ANCIPS at PGIMER, Chandigarh from 29 January-1 February
2005.
Chandigarh, situated at the foothills of the Shivalik hills, was
designed by the Swiss-born French architect Le Corbusier. It is a Union
Territory, but also the capital of the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. The
"open hand", the official emblem of the city beautiful, conveys the symbolic
message of "open to receive newly created wealth and open to distribute it to
its people and to others". True to this concept, we would like the 57th Annual
National Conference at Chandigarh to be the forum to disseminate scientific
knowledge to all. This conference is intended to serve as a meeting point for
psychiatry, psychology and other social and behavioural sciences, the emphasis
being on recent advances and innovations in patient-care and research. A varied
and enriching academic programme is thus in the offing. Colourful programmes are
also planned to give a first-hand experience of the rich culture of the region.
A number of interesting tours will help you explore the delightful sights in and
around the city and the charms of the surrounding Himalayas.
The
Department of Psychiatry, PGIMER has had the privilege of organising this
seminal conference before. We are hoping not only to continue, but also to
improve upon the tradition and standards of hospitality set on those previous
occasions.
We would thus urge you to start preparing for the ANCIPS
2005 and the visit to Chandigarh.
